Statement by MBDA National Deputy Director

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” Martin Luther King Jr. (April 16, 1963)

The outrage of our national community about the brutal death of George Floyd in Minneapolis is real and legitimate.  We recognize the inexplicable pain caused by racism, bigotry and violence that affect minority citizens and their respective communities in this country.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) was established in 1969 as a result of social unrest much like what we are witnessing today.  MBDA remains committed to be a part of the solution.  MBDA stands in solidarity with the more than 11 million minority businesses and the thousands of local communities that play a pivotal role in the vibrant fabric of our nation and its economic success.  We are thankful for your leadership and partnership as we rise together to create lasting change.
