There’s an app that connects MWBEs to the right contracts

Matthew Flamm writes about a phone app that helps MWBEs connect with the right requests for proposals (RFP). The main point is that the goals set for minority owned businesses and women owned businesses winning government contracts are not being met.  RFPs are often lengthy and complicated which in turn makes them intimidating.  Another point is that, “It takes MWBEs too long to find contracts, and oftentimes they’re finding contracts that don’t actually match with what they want to be doing,” said Safeena Mecklai.  MWBE Connect NY is an app aimed at better connecting MWBEs with the right contracts. As the app name suggests, the app is being used in New York, but nevertheless this is a step in the right direction for increasing procurement for minority and women owned businesses.
