Project Description: The facility will be an approximately 55,000 SF and provide additional classroom, lab, and office space for the continued overall growth of UW Tacoma’s academic programs. Construction will begin in June 2021. Mass Timber, Earthwork & Utilities, Structural Steel Furnish, and Structural Steel Install.
Current Scopes:
Mass Timber: The structure of the building is primarily mass timber, with a hybrid of mass timber and steel at the north bar of the building. The mass timber will include glulam beams and columns and CLT deck panels.
Earthwork & Utilities: The new building is positioned on an urban site, and an existing parking lot will be partially demolished. Scope includes utilities and earthwork in preparation for the new building. Building footprint is approximately 17k sf and is surrounded by paving and planting.
Structural Steel Furnish: Structural steel will occur at the north bar of the building (plan right) and be integrated with the mass timber structure. Scope does not include misc. metals.
