Description: The purpose of this specification is to decommission several Byron Jackson motors owned by Tacoma Water by preparing them for shipment for mercury remediation and decommissioning of the motors. The motors each contain a mercury seal that needs to be handled appropriately. Appropriate measures must be used to ensure there is no loss of mercury and they are properly prepared for shipment to the remediation facility. All motors have only been used for pumping potable groundwater.
